The 90-minute closed door round table will begin with a welcome from the moderator, followed by a brief introduction to the theme and the speakers. Each speaker, representing various specialized organizations, will address key aspects of global peace efforts. In line with the UNGA and UNSC resolutions, which emphasize the need for sustaining peace across the UN’s pillars—peace and security, human rights, and development—this discussion will explore how the UN system and its partners can foster more coordinated peacebuilding. Following the speakers, the session will then transition to an interactive discussion, with the moderator engaging the audience. The discussion will reflect on the progress made since the 2016 Sustaining Peace twin resolutions and address challenges within the UN peacebuilding architecture. The event aims to highlight the need for effective leadership, joint analysis, and strategic planning across the UN system while stressing the importance of inclusivity in peacebuilding. As the Summit of the Future and the UN peacebuilding architecture review are approaching, the panel will offer insights and recommendations for strengthening peace efforts.
