In a world of compounding conflicts, geopolitical shifts, socio-economic marginalization, climate crises, and deepening polarization, our current multilateral systems are struggling to address today’s most urgent challenges. The call for reform is clear: local civil society actors, social movements, and global networks are demanding more equitable support for peacebuilding. Recognizing this need, many in the Global North are advocating for a UN reform agenda that ensures multilateral institutions are more relevant to contemporary realities and future uncertainties.
This participatory workshop will engage participants in a futures thinking exercise. Using four distinct yet plausible future scenarios developed by a diverse team of 26 thought leaders under the RESPACE initiative, the workshop will challenge participants to reflect on what global collaboration for peace could look like over the next 11 years. Through this immersive exercise, participants will explore how their actions and decisions today can shape more favourable futures. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore collaborative strategies that support sustainable peace and empower local leadership in an increasingly complex global landscape.
